CBC Kids!Schedule of Children's ActivitiesPhilosophy of Children's MinistryJesus said, "Come, follow me." At Central, we believe that discipleship starts early.
Central Baptist's ministry with children seeks to encourage worship experiences, Bible familiarity, mission experiences, and fellowship opportunities that nurture children holistically throughout the entire passage between birth and "tweens." Learning basic Bible stories and having fun at church are key foundational elements for continuing the discipleship journey into youth and adulthood. We also look for ways to encourage both the development of a missional perspective and a sense of the sacred. Having fun is serious business - when kids have positive experiences at church, the seeds of strong Christian spirituality can take root for a lifetime. At Central, you can trust that your child's faith will be nurtured appropriately, in a way that always respects each individual's personal journey, conscience, and spiritual development. We will never psychologically coerce or emotionally manipulate your child into making religious commitments. We will challenge your child to reflect upon Christian ideas and disciple them in the love of Christ. Leaning on the best of our Baptist heritage, we believe in fostering an atmosphere of responsibility and freedom that encourages the flowering of authentic Christian faith planted in the soil of spiritual and personal integrity.
As they begin to embrace a faith of their own, older children may wish to talk with one of our ministers about making public their decision to follow Jesus through baptism and church membership. This is one of the most exciting passages a person can make, and our staff relishes the opportunity to support these growing disciples. If your child has spiritual questions with which we might help, please don't hesitate to contact Nathan Taylor, Associate Pastor for Christian Formation & Children.
If you are not currently involved in a church, we would love to visit with you and hope that you will take some time to experience the "faith family" of Central Baptist. For the most current information about children's ministry/activities, contact Nathan Taylor by calling the church office [(804) 794-8055] or e-mail: nathan (at) cbcva (dot) com .
