David Turner - Senior Pastor

Nelson Taylor - Associate Pastor of Music & Mission

The Rev. Nelson Taylor serves as Associate Pastor of Music & Mission. He was born in Charlottesville,  and attended Virginia Tech, obtaining a bachelor degree in marketing management. He spent 25 years in the insurance industry and served in several church music ministries before being called into full-time ministry. Nelson and his wife Robyn came to Central from Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Mechanicsville, Virginia, where he served as Minister of Music and Youth. In 2004, he earned the Master of Divinity in Church Music from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond.  The Taylors are thrilled to be parents and grandparents.

Nathan Taylor - Associate Pastor for Christian Formation & Children

The Rev. Nathan Taylor joined Central in service in 2007.  His key areas of focus are Christian formation across the whole congregation and facilitation of ministry with children, while also serving as staff liaison for senior adult ministries.  He is an alumnus of Asbury College and received the M.Div. from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond in 2004.  In earlier vocations, Nathan has taught high school social studies, ministered as a chaplain with senior adults, and served as a seminary development officer.  He is married to Bryn, also a BTSR alum, who enjoys serving in the Preschool Ministry area at Central.  Nathan serves on the Executive Committee of the Virginia Baptist Historical Society.  He enjoys current events, music, tropical fish and admits to being a Baptist heritage enthusiast.

Mark Snipes - Associate Pastor for Youth & Young Adults  

Central officially welcomed the Rev. Mark Snipes on May 25, 2008.  Mark came to Central from Haddock Baptist Church in Haddock, Georgia.  He and his wife, Katye Parker Snipes, are graduates of the McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University, in Atlanta, Georgia.  Mark completed his undergraduate studies at Shorter College in 2003.  His key areas of focus are ministry with middle school and senior high students, college and career, and young adults.  He also facilitates CBC's ongoing creation care efforts.  Mark serves on the board of SynerGeo, Inc.  He enjoys sports, sports radio, frisbee golf, and hanging out with his dog, Jada. 

Karen Martin - Administrative Assistant

Karen Martin joined the CBC staff as full-time administrative assistant in the fall of 2007.  She has many years of experience with churches and non-profit agencies (including Mechanicsville Baptist Church, St. Catherine's School and Shepherd Center of Richmond).  Her education includes attending the College of William and Mary and Union Theological Seminary for Church Business Administration instruction.  Karen brings a cheerful presence to the day to day operations of the church.  She also has a solid knowledge about Richmond and its inhabitants, and its fine example of providing care to a needy community.  Karen's hobbies include piano, watercolor and oil art classes, walking, yoga, reading and spending time with pets.

Erin Rourke Collier - Children's Ministry Specialist

Erin Rourke Collier joined the Central staff in August, 2007.  A native of Mechanicsville, Virginia, and an alumna of Mary Washington University, Erin is pursuing the M.Div. at Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond.  Her extensive ministry experience includes PASSPORTkids! Camps, Baptist Campus Ministries leadership, and a recent summer spent working with underprivileged children in Johannesburg, South Africa.  She is a fine pianist, a BGAV Ministerial Fund and Virginia Baptist Foundation Scholar, and recipient of the 2008 Elmo Scoggins Hebrew Award at BTSR.  Erin's key areas of focus at Central are children's ministry and administrative support.  She also serves as the main office contact for deacon ministry communication.  She is married to the Rev. Drew Collier, a BTSR alum and Baptist minister.  Erin is a 2010-2011 cohort participant in Women's Uptick, a ministry leadership program of Virginia Baptists.

Cara Alexander - Day School Director

Central welcomed Cara Alexander as Day School Director in July, 2007.  She brings to her role an extensive background in elementary education with an emphasis in literacy development.  Cara holds a master's degree in early childhood education from Virginia Commonwealth University.  Together, Cara and her husband, Justin, are the parents of Ainsley and are active members of Central Baptist Church.

Bonnie Condrey - Day School Office Manager

Bonnie helps to keep the Day School running smoothly.  Together, Bonnie and her husband, Robert, are the parents of Ashley and Justin and are active members of Central Baptist Church.
