CBC StaffDavid Turner - Senior Pastor
David has earned the B.A. and M.A. from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, the M.S. from Florida State University, the M. Div. from the McAfee School of Theology, and the Doctor of Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. He is married to the Rev. Christy Haga Turner, a United Methodist pastor. Together, they are the parents of Sam and Ben. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Baptists Today and the national Coordinating Council of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. His interests include Christian education, reading, history, current events, baseball, and college football.

He was born in Charlottesville, and attended Virginia Tech, obtaining a bachelor degree in marketing management. He spent 25 years in the insurance industry and served in several church music ministries before being called into full-time ministry. Nelson and his wife Robyn came to Central from Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Mechanicsville, Virginia, where he served as Minister of Music and Youth. In 2004, he earned the Master of Divinity in Church Music from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. Mark came to Central from Haddock Baptist Church in Haddock, Georgia. He and his wife, Katye Parker Snipes, are graduates of the McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University, in Atlanta, Georgia. Mark completed his undergraduate studies at Shorter College in 2003. His key areas of focus are ministry with middle school and senior high students, college and career, and young adults. He also facilitates CBC's ongoing creation care efforts. Mark serves on the board of SynerGeo, Inc. He enjoys sports, sports radio, frisbee golf, and hanging out with his dog, Jada. Karen Martin - Administrative AssistantKaren Martin joined the CBC staff as full-time administrative assistant in the fall of 2007. She has many years of experience with churches and non-profit agencies (including Mechanicsville Baptist Church, St. Catherine's School and Shepherd Center of Richmond). Her education includes attending the College of William and Mary and Union Theological Seminary for Church Business Administration instruction. Karen brings a cheerful presence to the day to day operations of the church. She also has a solid knowledge about Richmond and its inhabitants, and its fine example of providing care to a needy community. Erin Rourke Collier - Children's Ministry Specialist Erin Rourke Collier joined the Central staff in August, 2007. A native of Mechanicsville, Virginia, and an alumna of Mary Washington University, Erin is pursuing the M.Div. at Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. Her extensive ministry experience includes PASSPORTkids! Camps, Baptist Campus Ministries leadership, and a recent summer spent working with underprivileged children in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is a fine pianist, a BGAV Ministerial Fund and Virginia Baptist Foundation Scholar, and recipient of the 2008 Elmo Scoggins Hebrew Award at BTSR. Erin's key areas of focus at Central are children's ministry and administrative support. She also serves as the main office contact for deacon ministry communication. She is married to the Rev. Drew Collier, a BTSR alum and Baptist minister. Cara Alexander - Day School Director Central welcomed Cara Alexander as Day School Director in July, 2007. She brings to her role an extensive background in elementary education with an emphasis in literacy development. Cara holds a master's degree in early childhood education from Virginia Commonwealth University.
